Set in New York City's East Village during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, RENT tells the unforgettable story of a group of young artists, musicians, filmmakers, and dreamers struggling to create, connect, and survive while facing poverty, illness, addiction, and the uncertainty of the future. With its groundbreaking rock score and powerful message of love, friendship, and resilience, Jonathan Larson's Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical continues to inspire generations of audiences.

Content Advisory: This production contains mature themes including illness, addiction, grief, sexuality, strong language, and discussions of death. Recommended for teen and adult audiences.

Casting Notice: Auditions are open to performers ages 17+.

Available Roles:

RENT and And Seen celebrate diversity and authenticity. Performers of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, body types, and backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

Roger Davis: Male-presenting, 18–25
A struggling musician and former rock star hopeful. Withdrawn, wounded, and searching for purpose after suffering tremendous loss. Strong rock tenor with emotional depth.

Tom Collins: Male-presenting, 18–25
A former professor and philosopher with a warm heart and deep compassion. Optimistic despite life's challenges. Strong baritone/tenor.

Angel Dumott Schunard: Any gender identity, 17–25
A vibrant street percussionist, performer, and caregiver whose generosity and joy transform everyone around them. Requires strong singing, movement, charisma, and stage presence.

Joanne Jefferson: Female-presenting, 18–25
An ambitious lawyer and Maureen's partner. Intelligent, driven, and deeply caring beneath her professional exterior. Strong vocalist.

Benjamin Coffin III (Benny): Male-presenting, 18–25
A former roommate of Mark, Roger, and Collins who now owns their building. Charming, successful, and conflicted between friendship and business. Strong singer and actor.

Steve: A member of the support group. Compassionate and supportive.

Gordon: One of Mark and Roger's former roommates and friends.

Paul: Leader of the support group. Warm, empathetic, and reassuring.

Alexi Darling: A persistent television producer pursuing Mark's documentary project.

Mrs. Jefferson: Joanne's mother.

Mr. Jefferson: Joanne's father.

Mrs. Cohen: Mark's mother.

Mr. Cohen: Mark's father.
